The National Library of China (NLC) announced winners of the Wenjin Book Award, one of the country's highest book awards, on World Book Day on April 23.
Ten books from a total of 1,400 titles won this year' award, which was presented at a ceremony by the judging panel made up of top librarians and celebrated authors from across the country.
The year's award covered three categories: humanities and social sciences, popular science and children's books.
The NLC has launched a series of cultural programs and activities aimed at encouraging reading.
The Wenjin Book Award is named after Wenjinge, one of the most renowned ancient Chinese libraries, located in the city of Chengde in north China's Hebei province.
