Storyline

The Hangzhou G20 summit will offer Brazil an opportunity to learn how China has been influential in showcasing confidence in its economy, said Brazilian President Michel Temer Saturday ahead of the summit in Hangzhou of east China's Zhejiang Province.

Temer who was sworn in as the new Brazilian President on Wednesday, arrived Hangzhou on Saturday to attend the G20 Leaders' Summit.

"I think China's confidence in its own economy has set the most influential example. Now Brazil and the world are facing problems of economic recovery. China has set a good example to Brazil and the world. The Hangzhou G20 summit will offer an opportunity for us to learn the Chinese experience," Temer said in a joint interview with the Chinese media.

Temer expressed his expectations from the summit in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), saying that the summit would benefit all parties concerned.

"I have full expectations from the Hangzhou G20 summit, because each of the earlier G20 summit successfully achieved fruitful results. China is assuming the rotating presidency this year. I firmly believe that the summit will bring more benefits to all parties concerned," said Temer.

Temer and Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged views on major issues of bilateral relations at their meeting in Hangzhou on Saturday.

Temer said Brazil attaches high importance to stabilizing and deepening a comprehensive strategic partnership with China and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China on economy and trade, energy, aviation, agriculture, finance and infrastructure.

Temer added that Brazil would like to maintain close negotiation and collaboration with China to address international affairs including global climate change.

Temer stressed the emerging economies have strengthened solidarity and cooperation within the BRICS framework.
