A pillow containing 30,000 US dollars was finally found on Nov. 17 in Shanghai by 10 sanitation workers who rummaged 15 tons of garbage for an hour to retrieve the money.
Local resident Mr. Shang came to a garbage transportation base and told the staff there that a pillow containing 30,000 US dollars was thrown away as garbage and he learned from the sanitation workers in his neighborhood that the garbage ended up in the base. So the staff started the search.
"The garbage sent here at that time was loaded in three containers. We found on our internal system that two of them had been shipped away and the remaining one was still at our dock," said Tan Bojun, deputy manager of the market department of Hulin Garbage Base.
In order to help Mr. Shang, the base opened that container and sent 10 workers to help seek the pillow.
"Four of our staffers had just worked overnight and returned to their rooms for rest. But when they heard it, they came back to help with the search without any complaint," said Tan.
Mr. Shang was very thankful.
"I'm very grateful to them, really. I'm really excited and I wanted to give them some money to show my gratitude, but they wouldn't take it," said Mr. Shang.
