A moving story of honesty and loving care between two complete strangers is told in central China's Zhengzhou, Henan Province.
A 17-year-old student was rewarded 10,000 yuan by a car owner because he was deeply impressed by the student's honesty of admitting his mistake and paying with the little money he earned by doing part-time job in central China's Henan Province.
Xue Zhanmin, the owner of a BMW X5, found his parked car scratched in the morning.
He called the police for help, but to see a letter glued on the car door together with 311 yuan in cash.
"The letter reads to the effect: 'Uncle, I'm sorry. I accidentally bumped into your car last night when I was driving an electric tricycle. I have all together over 300 yuan, and give it to you as a compensation. I know the money was not enough, but that's all the money I have. I feel really sorry for the accident,'" said Xue.
After reading the apology letter and knowing that the teenager, most probably from a poor family, was working part-time during the winter holiday, Xue was not only impressed by his honesty, but also became somewhat concerned about his economic situation.
"So I asked the traffic police officer to help me find the boy. I wanted to return all the 311 yuan and I wanted to give him some financial support," said Xue.
Through local media reports, more and more people know the story. The student was found out to be Chen Yifan, a local high school sophomore.
