Every region has its own way of celebrating, however, the colonial streets in Salvador make the city's festivities special. Founded by the Portuguese in 1549 as the first capital of Brazil, Salvador is one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. The celebration takes place at Salvador's historic city center, where it is still home to many examples of Portuguese colonial architecture and historical monuments. Performances such as capoeira - a Brazilian marital art that combines dance with acrobatics, African drumming and other traditional dances are some of the highlights of the festivities.
The Festa Junina in Salvador will last three days. It attracts thousands of visitors to experience the folk custom culture every year.
