A man who glued his eyes to his smart phone while riding a motorbike in the wee hours on Thursday crashed into an oversize hole resulted seconds ago from a street cave-in, without serious injury.
A surveillance video shows that the cave-in occurred after midnight in Beihai City in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The street hole measured five meters across, eight meters long and two meters deep.
The time-lapse footage caught the man crashing into the hole and him on his feet before sportingly jumping out of the hole.
Two good Samaritans from a passing-by van cordoned off the road section with the cave-in to fend off further accidents. The van driver also offered a ride for the motorcyclist to a local hospital. The man was checked to be just lucky without any serious injury.
The section of road was soon blocked off the municipal traffic grid and it takes up to 20 days to get it fully fixed.
Traffic police and municipal authorities are probing into the root cause of the street cave-in.
