Fishermen around the Chagan Lake in northeast China's Jilin Province started large-scale fishing Saturday morning during the annual winter fishing season by casting huge nets under thick frozen surface of the lake.
Local fishermen set out before sunrise to drill holes on the frozen surface using the centuries-old technique, the key part of which is to cast the huge net with a perimeter of 2,000 meters into the lake.
There is no modern machineries required for the fishing, just the men and horses to do the job.
The Chagan Lake covers an area of almost 500 sq km and is one of the biggest freshwater lake in China.
