Storyline

China launched three commercial satellites into space with one rocket at noon on Saturday, forming the country's first satellite constellation.

The rocket blasted off at 11:22 at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province, north China. All the three optical satellites entered definitive orbits after 30 minutes.

The satellites that adopted proven technique used on Gaofen-1 satellite, were respectively named as Gaofen-1 02, Gaofen-1 03 and Gaofen-1 04. They are similar in performance and status.

The satellites networking, with a high resolution remote sensing ability, will have a revisit time of two days and achieve global coverage in 15 days.

Those satellites are expected to give a leg up to the survey, monitoring and supervision of natural resources in China.

The Gaofen-1 high-definition earth observation satellite was launched in April 2013.
