"First, I think it is the most important strategic initiative, because it is a concept with which you can overcome geopolitics. Geopolitics has been the cause of two world wars in the 20th century, and the idea that you cannot have blocks of countries or nations against nations, but that you have what Xi Jinping always calls a community of the shared future of humanity, that you put the one humanity first is a strategic concept which allows to overcome the division which existed in previous centuries."

Foreign experts have paid great attention to China's long-term development plans and ideas during the "two sessions" and spoke highly of the Chinese vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity.
The two sessions refers to the annual gathering of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, and that of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body.
Since Chinese President Xi Jinping made a keynote speech at the United Nations (UN) Office in Geneva titled "Work Together to Build a Community with Shared Future for Mankind" in January 2017, the idea has gained wider international recognition for offering China's solutions to cope with global challenges.
This idea bears great strategic significance, said Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder and president of the international political and economic think tank Schiller Institute.
"First, I think it is the most important strategic initiative, because it is a concept with which you can overcome geopolitics. Geopolitics has been the cause of two world wars in the 20th century, and the idea that you cannot have blocks of countries or nations against nations, but that you have what Xi Jinping always calls a community of the shared future of humanity, that you put the one humanity first is a strategic concept which allows to overcome the division which existed in previous centuries," said Zepp-LaRouche.
The Belt and Road Initiative, which refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, is one of China’s efforts to promote win-win development. It has received warm responses from the international community since it was first proposed by Xi in 2013.
Jacques Cheminade, a guest of the Schiller Institute, spoke highly of China’s efforts to pursue common development.
"Chinese way leads to a world integration on common development, what President Xi Jinping calls a win-win system. So that's the future. The Chinese want world development, they don't want to impose a model, but they don't want the other models to [be] imposed upon them," said Cheminade.
China marked the 40th anniversary of its reform and opening-up last year, a great revolution that has changed the destiny of the Chinese nation and influenced the world.
China's national legislature on Friday passed a foreign investment law, a landmark legislation that will provide stronger protection and a better business environment for overseas investors.
The new law shows China's will and determination to follow through with reform and opening up in a new historical context and bring more benefits to the people around the world.
