China Superbike Championship (CSBK) 2019 kicked off in north China's Tianjin Municipality on Friday, attracting more than 100 motorcyclists from nationwide to grasp the trophy regardless of the scorching temperatures.
The CSBK is a motorcycle racing championship organized by China Motorcycle Sports Association and promoted by Zhuhai International Circuit. It was first established in 2007. The championship restarted in 2017 after seven years' of suspension and has become the motorcycle race with largest scale and highest level in China currently.
Besides the technical classes of 600cc and 1000cc, a special class was set up to let more ordinary motorcyclists with professional training participate in the professional race during which motorcycles with unified standards are provided by the organizing committee.
"Our slogan this year is devote every effort for passion. More and more young riders are getting involved and kids at a very young age of three or four are participating in trainings, which shows that a new generation of riders are growing," said Zhang Jinghan, an executive member of the organizing committee, China Superbike Championship (CSBK).
Meanwhile, activities like carnival are set up to spread the motorcycle culture.
"Motorcycle culture is gradually developing in China now. But abroad, the Harley culture and motorcycle culture have been developing for decades, even more than 100 years. So this is an area where China is lacking. For us, I hope that we can become a leader or advocate for motorcycle culture," said Zhang.
