Storyline


A total of 105 Chinese soldiers will participate in the Victory Day parade celebrating the 75th anniversary of the World War II victory in the Russian capital Moscow on Wednesday.

At the invitation of Russia, the Chinese soldiers arrived in Moscow on June 13 by air.

Many of the soldiers took part in the military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on Oct. 1, 2019.

The 105 soldiers including 99 honor guards and six commanding and supporting personnel.

"We come to this parade for peace, friendship and study. We will strive to show the military appearance of a major country," said Bao Zemin, a leader of the soldiers, also deputy political commissar of Beijing garrison.

So far the Chinese soldiers have conducted three joint trainings and one rehearsal.

Russian Army commander-in-chief and the chief commander of the parade Oleg Salyukov and Military Commandant of Moscow Yevgeny Selezenev, lauded the Chinese soldiers, saying they are the best among all the formations to be reviewed.

Facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese soldiers also paid attention to epidemic prevention and control besides trainings.

"By implementing epidemic prevention and control work, we are resolute and confident to realize two goals, finish our task successfully and ensure zero infection. We will report to the motherland and the people with an excellent performance," said Han Jie, leading officer of the honor guard formation.
