If the temperature does not meet the use requirements of the engine, the fuel will not be fully burned, and the satellite will not be able to enter the scheduled orbit. Therefore, we must do a good job of moisturizing and insulating the rocket's first, second and third stages of rocket and satellite fairing."

Storyline

China has successfully launched the Yaogan-31 remote sensing satellites into the designated orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 12:47 on Friday.

The satellites were carried by a Long March-4C rocket. It was the 359th flight mission carried out by the Long March carrier rocket series, the launch center said.

After entering the planned orbit, the satellites will be used for electromagnetic environment surveys and other related technology tests, said Zhang Zhifen, director of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

"According to the evaluation results, I declare that the launch mission a complete success!" said Zhang.

Prior to the current launch, China had launched the first group of the Yaogan-31 remote sensing satellites in 2018.

As this winter is colder than the previous years, workers from the air conditioning department of the launch center have been working hard to ensure the success of launch mission.

The responsibility of the operator with the air conditioning system in the launch center is to ensure required temperature, humidity and cleanliness environment for spacecraft, target aircraft, rockets and other equipment.

"There are many precision instruments inside the rocket and satellite, which will affect its service life if the temperature and humidity are not suitable. After refueling, we should pay special attention to the temperature of the fuel. If the temperature does not meet the use requirements of the engine, the fuel will not be fully burned, and the satellite will not be able to enter the scheduled orbit. Therefore, we must do a good job of moisturizing and insulating the rocket's first, second and third stages of rocket and satellite fairing," said Yu Jiechen, air conditioning operator of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

In order to keep the satellite and rocket warm in ultra-low temperature, workers from air-conditioning department wrapped the exposed part of the rocket with quilts. Different from other positions, the air conditioning professionals are required to standby 24 hours a day.

"This tower is more than 90 meters long and has 11 floors in total. Our equipment is mainly distributed in the corners of the whole tower. It takes about one hour to make a tour," said Huan Xingyuan, air conditioning operator of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

There are hundreds of pipelines that need to be inspected, ranging from fixed hot air units to humidification pipeline tracing belts. However, for these operators, this complicated and tedious work has long been used to it.
