The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 10 new imported COVID-19 cases, according to data released by the National Health Commission on Saturday.

Among the 10 cases, three each in Tianjin Municipality and Guangdong Province, two in Shaanxi Province, and one each in Shanghai Municipality and Sichuan Province. No new deaths or suspected cases related to the disease were reported.

On the same day, 15 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, 435 close contacts were cleared from medical observation, and the number of serious cases remained the same as the previous day.

By the end of Friday, a total of 5,059 imported cases were reported on the mainland. Among them, 4,896 were discharged from hospitals following recovery. No deaths were reported from the imported cases.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 89,962 as of Friday, including 173 patients still receiving medical treatment, one of whom was in a severe condition.

A total of 85,153 patients had left hospitals after recovery, and 4,636 had died from the disease. There were no suspected COVID-19 cases as of Friday. A total of 980,565 close contacts had been traced so far, of which 4451 were still under medical observation.

Twenty-three asymptomatic cases were newly reported on Friday, all arriving from outside the mainland. One imported asymptomatic case was re-categorized as a confirmed case, and 21 cases were released from medical observation.

A total of 256 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation by Friday, of which 254 arrived from outside the mainland.

The health commission has accumulatively received reports of a total of 12,074 confirmed cases from the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao and the Taiwan region as of Friday.

Among them, 11,066 cases including 201 deaths and 10,604 recoveries were reported in Hong Kong, 48 cases including 47 recoveries in Macao, and 960 cases, including nine deaths and 928 recoveries in Taiwan.
