Warships participating in the China-Russia naval exercise, dubbed "Joint Sea-2024", assembled at a military port in Zhanjiang City, south China's Guangdong Province, on Friday.
With the Chinese military band playing, the Russian Pacific Fleet corvettes Gromkiy (335) and Rezkiy (343), along with the oil tanker Irkut, slowly docked at the pier around 11:00 on Friday morning. The Chinese side held a warm welcome ceremony for the Russian naval fleet.
The exercise aims to demonstrate the resolve and capabilities of the militaries in jointly addressing maritime security threats and preserving global and regional peace and stability. It is scheduled to last until mid-July.
It is divided into three phases: assembly, planning, and sea exercise. While at sea, the two sides will conduct joint drills, including surveillance and early warning, sea strike, air defense, and anti-missile exercises.
