"Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said on April 2 that the PLA Eastern Theater Command's joint drills around the Taiwan island and the "Strait Thunder-2025A" exercises in the middle and southern areas of the Taiwan Strait are necessary moves to safeguard national sovereignty, safety and development interests, legitimate moves to punish separatists, and protective moves for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the safety and well-being of compatriots in Taiwan.
There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China. This is the actual status quo in the Taiwan Strait. The DPP authorities have been propagating the secession narrative, constantly making separatist provocations, and wishfully trying to change the status quo that both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one and the same China. This has seriously undermined peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and gravely hurt the interests and well-being of compatriots in Taiwan. If left unchecked, they will push compatriots in Taiwan toward the danger of military conflict, so they must be resolutely stopped and punished.
In response to White House spokesperson's comments on the drills, Zhu noted the Taiwan question is China's internal affair that brooks no interference from external forces. The U.S. should abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, oppose Taiwan secession, and support China's reunification.
We have full confidence and sufficient capability to promote the development of cross-Strait relations, defend the common home of the Chinese nation against separatists, and create a wonderful future of reunification and rejuvenation together with our compatriots in Taiwan."

Storyline

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) around Taiwan and in the middle and southern areas of the Taiwan Strait were a just move to punish and deter attempts to split the country, said Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said on Wednesday.

In response to a media inquiry, Zhu said the PLA Eastern Theater Command's joint drills around the Taiwan island and the "Strait Thunder-2025A" exercises in the middle and southern areas of the Taiwan Strait are necessary moves to safeguard national sovereignty, safety and development interests, legitimate moves to punish separatists, and protective moves for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the safety and well-being of compatriots in Taiwan.

"There is but one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China. This is the actual status quo in the Taiwan Strait. This has seriously undermined peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and gravely hurt the interests and well-being of compatriots in Taiwan. If left unchecked, they will push compatriots in Taiwan toward the danger of military conflict, so they must be resolutely stopped and punished," she said.

In response to a statement by the U.S. White House regarding the drills, Zhu said that the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affairs that brook no foreign interference.

She urged the U.S. to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiques, oppose Taiwan secession, and support China's reunification.

"We have full confidence and sufficient capability to promote the development of cross-Strait relations, defend the common home of the Chinese nation against separatists, and create a wonderful future of reunification and rejuvenation together with our compatriots in Taiwan," Zhu said.
