Storyline

Hundreds of drones staged a stunning light show in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province on Saturday to salute the medical staff working on the frontline in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

300 drones flew the night sky over Sumlodol Hengqing Camping Town in Zhuhai, where 54 members of the Zhuhai medical team who went to assist Hubei province -- the hardest hit province by the COVID-19 epidemic in the country -- during the outbreak spent their 14 days of quarantine from March 20 to April 4 when they came back home.

The more than 30 members of the medical team present to enjoy the spectacular drone performance together were all deeply moved by the gratitude and messages delivered through the drones during the show.

"One is the pattern of removing the mask, and the other one is 'Love in Xingledu' [that impressed me a lot], because they took care of us during the past 14 days during the quarantine," said Zhang Yunyun, a member of the Zhuhai medical assistance team to Hubei.

"Because we usually wear masks, we can recognize each other with masks. But after we took off the mask, we didn't know each other. So it was touching to see the pattern of removing mask today. That's very kind of them, thanks," said Ruan Na, another member of the Zhuhai medical assistance team to Hubei.

According to a manager at the camping town, the show was originally planned to be staged on April 3, the day before the medical workers were going to be released from the quarantine but a sudden rain had forced it to be rescheduled.

"There are many Hubei people in our company, so we want to do our part to show our genuine gratitudes to all medical workers by throwing the drone show," said He Zhenchuan, sales director of the Shenzhen DAMODA Intelligent Control Technology Co., Ltd..
