China will give support to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on the issue of Japan's disposal of nuclear wastewater, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday, highlighting that the Japanese side cannot take action on its own before receiving approval.
The spokesman Zhao Lijian made the statement at a press briefing in Beijing when asked about the IAEA's decision to dispatch a team of experts to Japan's Fukushima Prefecture in December.
According to the Deputy Director General of the IAEA Lydie Evrard, the technical working team will evaluate the safety of the nuclear wastewater discharge in Fukushima, and that experts from China and South Korea will joint the work.
