Storyline

China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Tuesday jointly launched the secretariat of a bilateral knowledge network for development to facilitate knowledge exchange between the two sides, with a view to exploring new opportunities and potentials for regional cooperation.

The Secretariat of China-ASEAN Knowledge Network for Development was inaugurated at a ceremony during a seminar held in Beijing, where over 70 attendees had in-depth discussion on development cooperation, energy transformation and green transportation.

The knowledge network is expected to be established on the sidelines of a China-ASEAN summit in November this year, to provide intellectual support for building a China-ASEAN community of shared future and implementing the Global Development Initiative and the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

"We hope to find new potentials and new priorities for cooperation through our knowledge exchange," said Long Guoqiang, deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council.

"Within the context of rapid development of China-ASEAN cooperation in multiple fields such as economy, health and environmental protection, the network will act to further promote bilateral and multilateral cooperation between China and ASEAN countries," said Zhao Changwen, head of China Center for International Knowledge on Development.
