Storyline

Germany closed its two natural gas receiving terminals of Nord Stream project located in Lubmin City and beefed up security checks around the area.

The two receiving terminals of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines are about one-kilometer away from each other, and an information center modified from a container sits between the two terminals.

Video of the China Media Group(CMG) shows that the information center is surrounded by weeds, indicating long time desert.

The Nord Stream 2 pipeline was completed last year and all facilities are new. It was closed before actually started operation.

CMG reporter found the two terminals have strict security checks and outsiders are not allowed to approach.

The Nord Stream pipelines leakage under Baltic Sea has become a headline-making event. The crack and leakage problems emerged when the pressure in the pipes plummeted on Sept. 26. Later, Swedish and Danish authorities filmed vast areas where sites of gas streaming out from the holes are visible on the Baltic Sea surface. Two of the leaks are in Sweden's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Baltic Sea, and two are in Denmark's EEZ.

Swedish authorities have evidence to back the suspicions that the Nord Stream gas pipelines have been sabotaged, the country's Security Service said on Thursday.

However, investigation leader Mats Ljungqvist from the Swedish Prosecution Authority said he could not give any further information.

He said Swedish investigators can state that there had been detonations at Nord Stream 1 and 2 in the Swedish economic zone, which had caused extensive damage to the gas pipelines. The crime scene investigation has strengthened suspicions of gross sabotage. Seizures have been made at the crime scene and those will be investigated.

The cordons around the area in the Swedish EEZ have been removed on Thursday, the Security Service said.

Earlier this week, the Swedish Coast Guard cordoned off an area around two of the four leaks, before deploying a Navy vessel equipped with the appropriate technology to conduct underwater surveys. Another vessel with similar capabilities was also sent to the area, according to local media reports.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that investigations without Russia cannot be objective.

The pipelines were built to transport gas from Russia to Germany, and Russia has reportedly expressed interest in participating in the investigations concerning the leaks in the Swedish and Danish exclusive economic zones (EEZ). However, at a press conference on Wednesday, the Swedish defense minister said this was out of the question.
