Storyline

The Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft, carrying supplies for China's space station, separated from the orbiting station combination at 14:55 Beijing Time on Wednesday and switched to independent flight, after completing all assigned tasks, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

The Tianzhou-4 was launched on May 10, 2022 at the Wenchang Launch Site in the southern province of Hainan, delivering about six tons of goods to the space station Tiangong.

The Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft is in good condition and will re-enter the atmosphere at the ground control later, said the CMSA.

"After the Tianzhou-4 separated from the orbiting station combination, we will independently monitor and control the Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft. Some related experiments will be carried out in the next step," said Wang Saijin, deputy chief engineer of the Beijing Aerospace Control Center.

"The separation and evacuation of Tianzhou-4 were smooth in general. Then it will fly independently before finally leaving the orbit under control. The Tianzhou-4 has accomplished all its tasks in orbit successfully," said Zou Xuemei, chief engineer of cargo spacecraft mission of the Beijing Aerospace Control Center.
