China's homegrown multi-functional heavy fighter J-16 has been put on exhibition at the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, or Airshow China, for the first time ever, wowing spectators with its superb performance.
The J-16 has showcased a series of technical maneuvers, including sharp turns and hovering in maximum angular velocity, demonstrating its maneuverability and combat capability during the flight performance sections of the ongoing 14th Airshow China in Zhuhai City of south China's Guangdong Province. It also performed crowd pleasers like lighting the clouds with flares.

In courtesy to the spectators, the J-16 also flew inverted across the exhibition area. Zhang said the maneuver is a great test to the plane, as well as to the pilot's skills and courage.

The J-16 is increasingly more equipped by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force in recent years, with its presence shown in various military exercises, including security patrols around the Taiwan Island in August.
"The J-20, J-16 and J-10C are the three current main fighter jets (of the Chinese air force). The three models are utilized together, mainly with the J-20's great capacity of situational awareness guiding the two other models, while the J-16 and J-10C exert their firepower superiority," Zhang said.
The 14th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition runs on November 8-13.
