Storyline


The Turkish judiciary has detained or issued arrest warrants for at least 188 people over investigation into the buildings collapsed in the earthquakes earlier this month, local media reported Sunday.

On Feb. 6, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the southern province of Kahramanmaras at 4:17 local time (0117 GMT), followed by a magnitude 7.6 one at 13:24 local time (1024 GMT) in the same province.

So far, more than 160,000 buildings have collapsed or been seriously damaged in the earthquakes. More than 44,000 people have been killed and millions of people have been left homeless.
