Scenic spots in Beijing are welcoming scores of tourists during this summer vacation, with popular spots such as the Great Wall and the Palace Museum seeing an influx of visitors.

Tickets quickly sold out for tourist attractions such as the Forbidden City, the Badaling Great Wall and the Summer Palace.

Reservations for scenic spots in Beijing increased by 4.5 times in July compared to the same period in 2019, with hotel bookings increasing by six times compared to the pre-pandemic period.

"I brought my child here to watch dramas, operas and so on. We believe children can gain a lot of knowledge in here," said one of the parents.

Meanwhile, cable cars at the Badaling section of the Great Wall opened to the public for night tours for the first time, allowing tourists to experience the unique scenery of the Great Wall at night.

To attract more tourists, some ancient courtyards in Beijing, such as one of the residences of Mei Lanfang in Dongcheng District, have been renovated to restaurants.

"There are 37 courtyards in Qianmen East. We are gradually prompting their renovations in batches. We are constantly exploring new models cultural protection and improving the integration of cultural and tourism industries at these cultural relics," said Li Jia, deputy director of publicity department under the CPC Dongcheng District Committee.

Faced with a surging number of tourists, popular attractions in Beijing, such as the Palace Museum, the Great Wall, the National Museum, and the China Science and Technology Museum, all need to be booked in advance.
