Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune concluded his five-day visit to China on Friday, with a visit to the tech hub Shenzhen being the highlight of his trip.
The manufacturing powerhouse aptly named the "Silicon Valley of China" showcased the rapid development that has made Shenzhen a symbol of China's rapid economic growth.
After arriving in Shenzhen on Thursday, President Tebboune lauded the city's astronomical growth under the Communist Party of China's leadership as nothing short of miraculous, adding that Algeria will learn from China's experience, and deepen cooperation across various fields.
The Algerian president also called on Chinese enterprises to invest and start businesses in his country.
Through meetings with tech giants including BYD and Huawei, he aimed to glean insights into Shenzhen's innovative spirit that he could bring back to Algeria.
BYD's Chairman, Wang Chuanfu, introduced the company's blade battery products to President Tebboune and his delegation. The president showed a strong interest in the technology and production of blade battery and the electric-hybrid system.
"We believe Algeria is a window into Europe and Africa. If the technology of this set of hybrid engines, including production, is moved to Algeria, it may also be a good choice and there'll be huge market of opportunities to explore," said Tebboune.
The next stop of President Tebboune's trip was the headquarters of Chinese tech giant Huawei, where the Algerian leader was received by Huawei's founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei.
At Huawei's headquarters, the Algerian president walked with Ren through the company's exhibition center, where the delegation was introduced to the latest trends in tech and the digital economy.
