"The performance of the general-purpose processor independently developed by our country has reached the level of mainstream products in the market for the first time. The global IT industry is now supported by two sets of technology systems dominated by the U.S. and other Western countries. We cannot always make products in others' ecosystems. We must build a third set of information technology systems ourselves and uphold independence and self-reliance. This is the first time that we Chinese people have managed to make it in terms of both the performance of Loongson 3A6000 and our LoongArch open source software ecology, laying a solid foundation for the formation of the third set of (information technology) systems."

By launching this printer main control chip, we intend to lower the cost of Chinese printers. By joining hands with many printer manufacturers, we aim to steadily increase the share of Chinese printer brands in the global market."

Storyline

China launched the new generation of domestic CPU, Loongson 3A6000, in Beijing on Tuesday, marking a new height of the technology in terms of independent controllability and product performance.

Loongson 3A6000 is a general purpose processor independently researched and developed by Chinese scientists. It adopts the country's independently designed instruction system and architecture, without relying on any foreign licensed technology.

The main frequency of the chip reaches 2.5GHz and it can power a variety of cross-platform applications to run at various large-scale and complex desktop application scenarios.

"The performance of the general-purpose processor independently developed by our country has reached the level of mainstream products in the market for the first time. The global IT industry is now supported by two sets of technology systems dominated by the U.S. and other Western countries. We cannot always make products in others' ecosystems. This is the first time that we Chinese people have managed to make it in terms of both the performance of Loongson 3A6000 and our LoongArch open source software ecology, laying a solid foundation for the formation of the third set of (information technology) systems," said Hu Weiwu, chief designer of Loongson, who is also a researcher of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Meanwhile, Loongson 2P0500, the first China-made printer main control chip based on an independent command system, was also released on Tuesday. As the core control component of a printing or scanning machine, the successful development of Loongson 2P0500 will help expand the market for more China-made printers.

"Now Chinese printers account for no more than 5 percent of the global market, while Chinese companies' market share of PCs, servers, and various network equipment all exceeds 50 percent. By launching this printer main control chip, we intend to lower the cost of Chinese printers. By joining hands with many printer manufacturers, we aim to steadily increase the share of Chinese printer brands in the global market," Hu said.
