Joseph Nyumah Boakai was sworn in as Liberia's new president on Monday, commencing a six-year presidential term.

In the inauguration ceremony held in Monrovia, the nation's capital, Boakai emphasized the commitment of the new government to combating corruption, rebuilding infrastructure, and enhancing essential services for the people under his leadership.

Boakai, the former vice president of the country, achieved victory in the second-round voting of the presidential election by securing 50.64 percent of the votes, according to the official results released by Liberia's National Elections Commission (NEC) on November 20 last year.
