Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday encouraged personnel in China's space industry to continue to work hard and accelerate progress in space endeavors.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with the representatives of space scientists and engineers at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, who participated in the research and development of the Chang'e-6 lunar mission.
Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi, all members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the event.
Xi said at the event that he had sent a congratulatory message on June 25 on the complete success of the Chang'e-6 mission.
He, along with other leading officials of the CPC Central Committee, met with the representatives on Monday to once again extend warm congratulations and sincere greetings, he added.
The Chang'e-6 mission achieved the first-ever sampling from the far side of the moon in human history, making breakthroughs in several key technologies, Xi said, adding that this marks another landmark accomplishment in China's efforts to become a global power in the space industry as well as in science and technology, and an important milestone in the country's lunar exploration program.
Noting that the lunar exploration program has achieved fruitful results over the past two decades in such fields as scientific discovery, technological innovation, engineering practice, research results conversion, and international cooperation, Xi said that the program has established a high-quality and cost-effective path for lunar exploration, making major contributions to the development of China's space industry and humanity's exploration of outer space.
"Exploring the vast cosmos and building China into a space power is our unremitting pursuit in realizing space dream. Over the past 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, generations of space-industry professionals in China have adhered to self-reliance and independent innovation, and advanced the development of the country's space industry from scratch to strength, from 'drawing the blueprint for a dream' to 'striving to fulfill the dream', marking solid progress in achieving historic and leapfrog development with high quality, and building the country's strength in aerospace," he said.

A great cause nurtures a great spirit, and a great spirit drives a great cause, he noted.
Xi called for efforts to vigorously promote the spirit of lunar exploration in society, characterized by chasing dreams, daring to explore, collaborating to overcome challenges, and achieving win-win cooperation.
It is necessary to further enhance the sense of confidence and pride of all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation, forging a mighty joint force for building China into a strong country and advancing the glorious cause of national rejuvenation on all fronts through Chinese modernization, he said.
Outer space is a domain shared by humanity and space exploration is humanity's common endeavor, Xi noted.
China will step up efforts to promote international exchanges and cooperation in outer space, share development achievements with all countries, and improve outer space governance, so as to ensure that the scientific and technological achievements in space industry better benefit all humanity, he said.
Noting that there is no end for space exploration, Xi expressed the hope that the space-industry professionals in China could elaborately conduct scientific researches on lunar samples, continue to implement major space projects such as the deep space exploration missions, and promote the all-round development of space science, space technology and space applications.
Xi also visited an exhibition on the lunar samples brought back by the Chang'e-6 probe and China's lunar exploration achievements as well.
