"The U.S. has repeatedly made three key claims: First, China provides military supplies to Russia; second, China offers political cover for Russia; third, the war would have ended long ago without China's support for Russia. These are sheer lies. If China were truly supplying military aid to Russia, the situation on the battlefield would not have been what it is today. If China were offering political cover for Russia, it would not have repeatedly emphasized respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, or adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter on public occasions. If China did not want the war to end, it would not have sent a special representative for shuttle diplomacy or worked with countries of the Global South to initiate the 'Friends of Peace' platform on the Ukraine crisis."

"Recently, both Russia and Ukraine have sent political signals indicating a willingness to negotiate, and international discussions around the Ukraine crisis are increasingly focusing on peace and negotiations. The development of the Ukraine crisis is entering a critical phase. We hope that the international community, including the U.S., will strengthen unity and cooperation to foster political will on all sides, resume peace talks at an early date, end the war and restore peace and stability in Europe with concrete efforts."

Storyline

China lashed out at the United States for spreading false narrative to smear it on the Ukraine issue during a United Nations Security Council meeting on the Ukraine crisis on Thursday.

At the meeting, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, said that the U.S. not only refuses to reflect on its role in the outbreak and continuation of the war but also resorts to attacks and smear campaigns against China.

This, he said, is a blatant attempt to vent emotions, shift blame and evade responsibility, which further exposed the U.S. pure political manipulation and double standard.

"The U.S. has repeatedly made three key claims: First, China provides military supplies to Russia; second, China offers political cover for Russia; third, the war would have ended long ago without China's support for Russia. These are sheer lies," said Geng.

"If China were truly supplying military aid to Russia, the situation on the battlefield would not have been what it is today. If China were offering political cover for Russia, it would not have repeatedly emphasized respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, or adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter on public occasions. If China did not want the war to end, it would not have sent a special representative for shuttle diplomacy or worked with countries of the Global South to initiate the 'Friends of Peace' platform on the Ukraine crisis," he said.

He further criticized the U.S. for using the Ukraine war as an opportunity to advance its own geopolitical agenda, summarizing three main goals of the U.S.: weakening and defeating Russia to dominate European security and expand its influence in Europe; stirring up bloc politics to suppress and isolate China, which it views as a strategic rival; and shaping a positive image of itself to counter international criticism of its Middle East policies.

None of these U.S. efforts have succeeded, Geng said.

"Recently, both Russia and Ukraine have sent political signals indicating a willingness to negotiate, and international discussions around the Ukraine crisis are increasingly focusing on peace and negotiations. The development of the Ukraine crisis is entering a critical phase. We hope that the international community, including the U.S., will strengthen unity and cooperation to foster political will on all sides, resume peace talks at an early date, end the war and restore peace and stability in Europe with concrete efforts," said Geng.
