Various activities have been held across China to welcome the 2025 Spring Festival which falls on January 29, featuring distributing Spring Festival couplets, giving traditional performances, tasting local cuisines, and providing warm caring to the people heading to their hometowns for family reunions.
In Chongzuo City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south, local schools, libraries, and communities are distributing free Spring Festival couplets to showcase Chinese calligraphy and share best wishes.
In addition, hosts are also providing innovative monotype printings for children and amateurs to make their own couplets and have fun together.
"The calligraphy is beautiful, and the couplets convey wonderful wishes. I hope that in the new year, everyone can enjoy family happiness, good fortune, and auspicious beginnings, just as written in the couplets," said Li Biyun, a local villager.
In the northwest Tumshuq City of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Shehuo parade, a traditional folk celebration, was held on the streets, with thousands of local people participating. Chinese traditional performances like dragon dance and lion dance were also presented in the parade to celebrate the most important festival of the year for Chinese people.
"I am very delighted to perform for everyone. Wish everyone a new year of happiness, good health, and good luck," said Nijat Eli, leader of the lion dance team.
An outdoor stage was also constructed days ago for artists to perform different kinds of Chinese traditional operas, providing opportunities for the audience to experience diverse cultural heritages.
"Today's activities were excellent. In particular, the performances of Qinqiang and Yu opera gave me a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional opera culture. The festive atmosphere was especially vibrant," said a local resident.
In Yuyao City in east China's Zhejiang Province, artists gathered to give cultural heritage performances at the local train station, entertaining travelers heading home. Staff members of the train station also prepared free local pastries and refreshments for all passengers.
"We want to give back to migrant workers in Yuyao through warm delicacies and comforting artistic performances, hoping that they can feel the warmth of this city," said Jin Jing, chairman of the Yuyao Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
