The Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 48,319, with another 111,749 people injured, according to a statement released by Gaza-based health authorities on Thursday.
In the past 24 hours, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip resulted in 16 injuries, while Gaza hospitals received 22 bodies of victims recovered from the rubble, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Hamas on Thursday accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of stalling on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire deal have not practically begun, although Hamas is ready to engage in them as scheduled, Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif Al-Qanou said in a statement.
Hamas is waiting for Israel to implement all the provisions of the humanitarian protocol, and is ready to complete the implementation of the agreement in all its stages in a way that meets their demands, the spokesman added.
Hamas is committed to the ceasefire agreement as long as Israel is committed to it, he stressed.
Under the terms of the ongoing three-phase ceasefire agreement, effective since Jan 19 with its first phase spanning six weeks, Israel was supposed to begin the talks on the second phase of the ceasefire with Hamas on Feb 3.
