The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is currently operating with only one off-site power line, a situation that has persisted for over a week, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Thursday.
The plant's backup power lines were damaged and disconnected due to military activity and have yet to be fully restored, according to the director general.
Grossi warned that the vulnerability of off-site power supply at the Zaporizhzhia plant poses a significant nuclear safety risk.
IAEA will continue to closely monitor the situation at both the Zaporizhzhia and Chernobyl nuclear power plants, maintaining communication with relevant parties and making every effort to ensure the safety and stability of nuclear facilities, he added.
