China's push for new quality productive forces, a concept centered on innovation-driven growth and cutting-edge technologies, is gaining momentum, Liu Jieyi, spokesman for the third session of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, said on Monday.
At a press conference in Beijing, one day before the annual session of the country's top political advisory body, Liu said the progress of China's new quality productive forces is exemplified by breakthroughs in humanoid robotics and AI development.
The concept of new quality productive forces, which was first included into the government work report in 2024 and designated as one of the country's top priorities, has made significant strides over the past year, according to Liu.
"In 2024, China further integrated sci-tech innovation with industrial innovation and accelerated the building of a modern industrial system. New quality productive forces yielded remarkable results, with the economy growing towards the 'new' direction with 'quality' ensuring its sustained development. As all have noticed, a series of sci-tech achievements were made and one after another cutting-edge product came into the spotlight. As China doubles down on innovation and sci-tech progress, Liu said that the CPPCC will step up efforts to support the development of new quality productive forces with targeted and forward-looking proposals.
