Storyline

The 15th Chinese peacekeeping engineer contingent to South Sudan (Wau) has conducted joint defense exercise to improve coordinated combat capability and strengthen the command decision-making efficiency.

The exercise was carried out with Bangladeshi peacekeeping infantry battalion and a medical team, involving a simulated riot where refugees, incited by hostile actors, attempted to breach the camp.

"We set up the training content based on real cases and actual combat, with the focus on command post simulation, intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and medical treatment. It helps us refine our responses to various emergencies and improves our ability to work together in challenging environments," said Hao Chunyu, a Chinese peacekeeper.

The exercise included a simulated casualty evacuation. Following a call reporting a wounded soldier, the medical team immediately activated their emergency response plan and dispatched an ambulance and medical personnel to the scene. They then assessed the injury, gathered information, provided first aid, and transported the casualty for further medical care.

"This joint exercise not only strengthened our ability to operate together but also fostered understanding and trust between peers. Through the drill, the peacekeeping officers and soldiers have reinforced their awareness of coordination, enhanced combined operational procedures, complemented each other's strengths, improved their overall defense capabilities, and accumulated valuable experience for the mission ahead," said Wang Yanhui, a Chinese peacekeeper.
