Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Sunday met with U.S. Senator Steve Daines and some American business people, who are in China to attend the China Development Forum 2025 in Beijing.
At the meeting, Li talked about the phone call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump in January this year.
In their phone conversation, Xi emphasized that there are extensive common interests and broad space of cooperation between China and the United States, and the two countries can become partners and friends, contribute to each other's success, and advance shared prosperity for the good of the two countries and the whole world, Li said.
Noting that there is no winner in a trade war, Li expressed the hope that the United States shall work with China in the same direction.
Based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, the two countries should carry out candid communication, build trust and clear up misgivings, and deepen practical cooperation so as to promote the stable, sound and sustainable development of the China-U.S. relations, said Li.
For the U.S. side, they said China has undergone significant changes over the past decades.
Noting that American companies have actively participated in and supported China's development, they expressed the willingness to continue investing in China, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes so as to promote the sustained development of the China-U.S. relations.
