The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 50,810, with 115,688 others injured, from Israeli military operations since October 7, 2023, Gaza health authorities said on Tuesday.

In the past 24 hours, Israeli military operations killed 58 people and wounded 213 others in Gaza, the health authorities said.

Since the March 18 resumption of the Israeli military operations which led to the collapse of a two-month ceasefire, 1,449 Palestinians have been killed and 3,647 injured, according to Gaza's health ministry.

U.S. President Donald Trump once again proposed "controlling and owning" Gaza and relocating the Palestinians living there "to different countries" during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.

Trump also called the release of hostages held in Gaza a "top priority," and expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations but provided no specific details.

On the same day, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron in Cairo. At a joint press conference, the two leaders both voiced their rejection of any calls for the displacement of Palestinians from their land and the annexation of Gaza and the West Bank.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, warned on Monday that Israel now controls more than 50 percent of Gaza and is squeezing Palestinians into "shrinking wedges of land," which could lead to an even more severe humanitarian disaster.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, Hamas warned that Israel's ongoing military escalation in the Gaza Strip endangers the lives of Israeli hostages rather than offering any hope for their safe return, stressing that "the only way to secure the return of the hostages is through negotiations."

قالت السلطات الصحية في غزة يوم الثلاثاء/ 8 أبريل الجاري إن حصيلة القتلى الفلسطينيين في قطاع غزة ارتفعت إلى 50810، فيما أُصيب 115688 آخرون، وذلك منذ بدء العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية في 7 أكتوبر 2023 وحتى الآن، أي على مدار 18 شهرًا.

وأضافت السلطات الصحية أن العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية خلال الساعات الأربع والعشرين الماضية أسفرت عن مقتل 58 شخصًا وإصابة 213 آخرين في غزة.

ومنذ أن استأنفت إسرائيل عملياتها العسكرية في غزة في 18 مارس بعد انهيار وقف إطلاق النار، قُتل 1449 فلسطينيًا وأُصيب 3647 آخرون، بحسب وزارة الصحة في غزة.

واقترح الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب مجددًا خلال لقائه مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو في البيت الأبيض يوم الاثنين "السيطرة على غزة وامتلاكها"، ونقل الفلسطينيين المقيمين فيها "إلى دول مختلفة".

كما وصف ترامب الإفراج عن الرهائن المحتجزين في غزة بأنه "أولوية قصوى"، وأعرب عن تفاؤله بالمفاوضات الجارية دون أن يقدم تفاصيل محددة.

وفي اليوم نفسه، التقى الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي مع الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون خلال زيارة الأخير إلى القاهرة، حيث عبّر الزعيمان في مؤتمر صحفي مشترك عن رفضهما لأي دعوات لتهجير الفلسطينيين من أراضيهم أو ضم غزة والضفة الغربية.

من جهته، حذر المتحدث باسم الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، ستيفان دوجاريك، يوم الاثنين من أن إسرائيل باتت تسيطر على أكثر من 50 في المائة من أراضي غزة، وتدفع الفلسطينيين إلى "مناطق متقلصة من الأرض"، ما قد يؤدي إلى كارثة إنسانية أشد وطأة.

وفي بيان صحفي صدر يوم الثلاثاء، حذرت حركة حماس من أن التصعيد العسكري الإسرائيلي المستمر في قطاع غزة يُعرض حياة الرهائن الإسرائيليين للخطر بدلاً من أن يفتح أملًا في عودتهم سالمين، مؤكدة أن "الطريق الوحيد لضمان عودة الرهائن هو عبر المفاوضات".
